Aromatherapy Introduction

Aromatherapy impacts your olfactory senses.

Even though smelling the fragrances alters your senses almost immediately, soaking in tepid water, as long as possible, deepens its affect.

Aromatherapy further enhances your bathing experience while soothing your skin and adapting your mood — from an early morning pick-me-up to an late evening settle-me-down.

We use both essential oils and fragrance oils in our soaps. The basic difference between the two is that essential oils are extruded from plant material while fragrance oils are synthetic. Essential oils are in our Gourmet products, whereas fragrance oils are in our Fiesta products, which are seasonal and reflect a holiday atmosphere. Besides, FOs are loads of fun.

How air-borne aromatic oil molecules interact with the systems of the body

Odor signals are passed directly into the limbic system of the brain evoking an immediate emotional or instinctual response:

  • Aromatic molecules enter the lungs and are absorbed via the alveoli into the blood;
  • The blood is carried to the heart and transported throughout the body via the circulatory system;
  • Different oils have affinities with specific parts of the body – e.g. spices particularly affect the digestion; and
  • Waste and toxins are processed by the liver and kidneys and eliminated mainly via the lungs, but also in the urine and sweat.
