I haven’t worked festivals since 2011. They were fun. Essie (my mother-in-law) and I met several outstanding vendors who truly mastered their crafts and we had the pleasure of meeting long-time customers as well as new customers.
But … when Essie turned 97, and decided it was time to quit the festival circuit, I decided to quit too. If she couldn’t play, then I didn’t want to play either. Working festivals wasn’t all about selling my soaps; it was about being with Essie and having fun.
Now 2019, Essie is 102 and will turn 103 in March 2020. We reckon she’ll be here to celebrate her birthday. She’s a trouper. We look forward to celebrating with her.
